President reminded members that we will not hold our regular meeting on March 10, 2016 because in the evening of that day is our “service Above Self” event.  And the venue is at the Odyssey Restaurant, 15600 Odyssey Drive, Granada Hills, CA.

A good amount of money had been received via donations and that about 190 people are projected to attend the event. He appeal to all volunteers to be on time and also to come over to his house on Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. to coordinate the packaging/stuffing envelopes of items for the event.  He announced that his daughter Sarah is out of the hospital and will give the invocation at the event.  He also stressed the importance of all volunteers to be at the event on time.
Dave Friedman: Thanked everybody for their willingness to volunteer at our Track Meet event  this year and also announced that 6 members from our Chatsworth club will be volunteering  at the track meet.

Marc Tapper was called to introduce our guest speaker for the day.
Guest Speaker: Jared Gerber
His topic for the day was "10 pillars of Internet marketing".  According to him, these 10 pillars can be used to build a strong foundation for your Internet marketing strategy. From High conversion website, to design, interactivity, content, email marketing, social media, organic search results, local listings, paid advertising and lastly traditional marketing convergence.  All these are very important tools necessary in building or running a successful Internet marketing outfit or promoting your business/company. For more on these, contact Jared Gerber by email at jared.gerber@imagineit.com

News from Chatsworth Chatter as reported by Barbara Pampalone on February 29, 2016
Greater Van Nuys Incoming Pres. Dave Friedman visited our club today.  And he even brought yet more food!  It was a great social evening and nice to have so many great people there.  Dave learned what Bob Dager and Vikram Mishra have learned about being immersed in a room full of females.
Janice Chick again joined us and she brought string beans to the potluck.  Thanks so much to Libby for inviting her.  Janice has worked that last 18 years as Executive Assistant for PNC Real Estate.  She helps create the commercial mortgages for buyers of big apartment complexes and other big commercial real estate developers.   She is excited about having her daughter doing fashion design of knitwear for Disney – just now preparing for what they will be selling in the new Disneyland in Shanghai.
Martina Turner of the Fine Arts Council has asked Kris if our group can help in the kitchen on April 24th at the Spring Garden Festival of the Historical Society.  That will be the day after the Track Meet at Birmingham High that Dave told us about and many members have signed up for Saturday.  At least Sunday there will be shade in the kitchen.  The food bank is providing boxes for donations of canned goods at big events like the Garden Festival.
Also, on the subject of food, next week Food Forward will come to tell us how we can contribute to the local food pantries by using their volunteers to pick the fruit that we have on trees on our properties.  Kris has asked Daniel Devonda, an illustrator to come to talk with us on March 14th, and Sandi and Kris are working to get programs scheduled so that we can invite friends to future programs that may interest them.
Liz, Sandi and Kris (anyone else who wants to go) on Wednesday, March 3rd, will visit the Foster Children’s Store in Northridge and take the donations of toys, and other things as well as the pillowcases that we are donating.
Dave invited us to join the Greater Van Nuys Club at their big Service Above Self banquet at the Odyssey Restaurant on March 10th.   They have selected 6 special people who are great volunteers in the San Fernando Valley for special honors.  There will be lots of auction items and people from many other service groups would be at the event.
