Guest Speaker: Donna Deutchman – (Chief Executive Officer Habitat for Humanity)
Donna Deutchman walked us through what her organization – Habitat for Humanity is all about.  According to her, it is a Non-profit organization whose mission is to lift low-income working civilian and veteran families out of substandard housing and to offer them a gateway to the American Dream of homeownership so that they can build brighter economic futures.  Her organization believes that for families to be successful, it is important that affordable housing be made available to help lift families out of poverty.  Habitat for Humanity provides supportive programs which includes financial training, Health as well as Safety for families which eventually makes them self-sufficient not only to their families alone, but also to their communities.  This they have succeeded in doing through their Enriched Neighborhood Model.
Habitat for Humanity are promoting economic growth, educating children, empowering low-income families, healing veterans, and creating healthy neighborhoods.  For more information on this please visit Habitat for Humanity website at www.HumanityCA.org
She also informed our members that they greatly need volunteers.  If anyone is interested, please call (818) 884-8808 or email at Volunteer@HumanityCA.org
