Track Meet
Our Track Meet this year will be held on April 23, 2016.  Dave Friedman informed the club that he would be the Chairman for our Track Meet this year.  He is in the process of finalizing members of his committee.  He’ll give an update as soon as it’s done.
Service Above Self
Wynne Ritch reminded us that Service above Self is set for March 10, 2016
He also reminded us that the memorial Service for Donald Fetherolf would be held on Thursday January 28, 2016 at the Presbyterian Church at 4960 Balboa Blvd at 2:00 PM.
President elect Dave Friedman was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow today.  Les Grossman PDG presented the award to him.
James Tenner was called upon to introduce our guest speaker for the day.
Guest Speaker: Erika Endrijonas, Ph.D.
Erika Endrijonas is the President of the Los Angeles Valley College.  She attended CSUN for her Bachelor degree and USC for her Masters and Ph. D.   She has only just completed eighteen months as President and she briefly told us about the various construction projects going on within the college campus.  She also talked about the Los Angeles Valley College Foundation, which according to her comprises of nine colleges.  Her administration is working hard to ensure that in 2016 accreditation of Valley College and the District colleges will be successfully completed by the ACCJC.
The LAVC Foundation is a nonprofit organization that gives out scholarships and grants to needy LAVC students.   In addition to scholarships and grants, donations to the Foundation  also establish an endowment to provide an annual scholarship in perpetuity.  She said the Board and LAVC Foundation as well as the community and donors are responsible for the success of LAVC.  She thanks our club for our regular contributions to the LAVC Foundation.
Dave Friedman told her our club was honored to have her visit us today. She was given a book to sign which would be donated on her behalf towards our literacy program.
