Meeting called to order at 12:05

Song:      Judy Coates did it again.  She led us in singing “America the beautiful”.

President Marie Valencia welcomed all to our meeting especially as guests.
 
Announcements:
  • President announced that a few members of our club is absent today because they were attending the District Conference in San Diego
  • It was Peter Satuloff birthday today and we all joined together in singing “Happy Birthday” to him.  We all wished him long life and good health.
  • Wynne Ritch announced that the Track Meet this year was a great success.  According to him, everything went well.  Over 20 High School Schools participated in this year’s event. Our club was within it’s budget.
  • Dave Friedman thanked all members of our club and their families and friends who came out in full force to volunteer at the Track Meet.  A very special thanks to the following people:  Eli Gauna (PDG), Mrs. Reinken, Mrs. Satuloff and granddaughter, Thomas Ibrahim (my son), Michelle Kaufer, Jason Lassen, Phillip Mai, and many others.  Also, he acknowledged the presence of members of our Chatsworth Satellite Club who came out to volunteer as well.
 
 
                                                                                    
Guest Speaker: Linda-Cota-Kumaga
 
Linda is an Executive with Holy Family Services and has been with the Agency for over 17 years. Holy Family Services is a State licensed, nondenominational, nonprofit 501(c)3 Agency established about 65 years ago.  The Agency serves birth parents with unplanned pregnancies and prospective adoptive parents. The company main office is located at 804 Echo Park Avenue, Los Angeles.  It also has satellite offices in Orange, Ventura and San Bernardino Counties.
 
Her Agency provides Adoption and Foster Care, promoting quality family opportunities for children without regard to Race, religion, sex or ethnic origin, through education, counseling and continuing support activities.
 
According to her, about 55,218 children are in the foster Care System and 18,523 are in LA County alone.  Most foster youth are behind in school and most are emotionally younger than their actual age.  Her Agency provides, a supportive environment for birth parents, offering free options counseling resources and information to help them decide their future and that of their child. The Agency also provides the following services, Foster Adoption, Special Needs Children, and Orientation & Workshop.
